Spitsbergen - Between Northpole and North Cape
I travelled to Spitsbergen. This island is located near the north pole. We had temperatures below -20°C. Follow me on scooter and husky trips and hiking through this beautiful snowscape.
Our Trip started in Longyearbyen. The capital of Spitsbergen.
We wanted to explore this island by scooter, husky and hiking.
It was too cold for kayaking. The water temperature was below 0 degrees.
.... as you can see.
So we moved out of town by scooter first. Us two and a guide. You need a guide because of polar bears.
We met this fluffy friend. Awesome animals
A short stop in the east at the glacier wall. Unbelievable how huge these glaciers are.
With this view from the top ....
We were not alone on the glacier. The spitsbergen reindeers were also present.
The next day we hiked with another guide to an ice cave. The sun set already.
Ice caves are just amazing. You do not hear a thing. Just your feet on the snow and ice.
This was the view over Longyearbyen.
We came back very late and went directly to bed.
Next morning we went out with the scooters again.
We were lucky to see some reindeers again. So cute.
An ice wall of the glacier. Huge.
The water is so blue and so cold. Amazing. Do you see the heart?
Our gloves for the trip. Temperatures are below -15 degrees.
Watch out! The ice is not very stable ...
A short break and we used the time for a walk.
The next day we prepared for the husky trip. We had to choose our dogs.
I had very strong ones. They were looking forward to pull my sled.
Lets go guys!
Running through this beautiful snowscape.
This was one of my new friends.
Good bye lovely cute puppy.
Heading back to Hamburg.
Bye bye Norway.
