Republic Day Parade is truly spectacular! You must experience it once in a lifetime!
The 26th of January resonates with every Indian as a day of pride. It was the day out country was declared as a Republic. Being a citizen of India, Republic Day calls for igniting your patriotic spirits. One of the best places to do so is in the capital itself. The 26th of January calls for massive parades and enigmatic processions. This is a spectacle you have to witness in person. For this, you have to book your flights to Delhi from Ahmedabad, Mumbai or wherever else in the country you live. For your reference, here is your guide to an ideal Republic Day celebration:

When is the parade held?
The main parade starts off at 9:30 am on the dot. Before the parade commences, there is a flag hoisting that takes place at 9:00. The parade usually goes on for three hours. If you want to see the parade at its finest you should book tickets. There is a dress rehearsal that is held a few days earlier.

Where is the parade held?
In Delhi, the parade is held in Rajpat. The route that the parade follows is almost five kilometers long. It starts from Riasina Hill and it goes along pas Rashtrapati Bhavan (President’s House) all the way till Red Fort.
What happens at the Parade?
The Republic Day parade kicks off with the arrival of the President of India who is usually escorted by a posse of bodyguards on horses. Then the Prime Minister of India lays down a wreath at the Amar Javan Jyoti, to pay homage to those who lost their lives in war. Following that the President will then raise the National Flag with the National Anthem in the background, to which a 21-gun salute is given. The Parade is led by three wings of the armed forces namely the Army, Navy, and Airforce. This parade is also concluded with a dramatic air show.
